Mr John Christodoulou was honoured during the 3rd annual Festival of Friendship and Culture organized in Limassol Cyprus on the 23rd of September 2020 in memory of Chris Lazaris, a successful ex-patriot. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions Mr Christodoulou was not able to attend, but he has sent his warm wishes and message.
Mr Yannis Karousos, Minister of Transport, Communications and Works gave a speech, on behalf of Mr Nicos Anastasiades, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, in honour of the work of Mr Christodoulou.
‘The acknowledgment of honour to Cypriot expatriates highlights the diverse contribution of the Cypriot community in our country. A generous and selfless offer which is highly valued by the Cypriot state and the entire Cypriot people as significant, on the one hand for the prosperity of our particular homeland, and, on the other hand for the preservation of our national identity and the promotion of our wider interests abroad.
This is exactly how the rich action of John Christodoulou that is honored tonight is recognized. By nurturing genuine feelings of love for his homeland through the activities of the Charitable Foundation, John Christodoulou supports timeless projects and initiatives in Cyprus in collaboration with public services and local organizations aiming to support children and young people and consequently to serve their diverse needs.
This substantial support contributed, among other things, to the upgrading of the students' learning environment and the education provided, as well as to the improvement of their standard of living. I would like to warmly congratulate and express the gratitude of the state to Mr. Christodoulou for his well-known exemplary action. Tonight's recognition of Mr. Christodoulou's work so far is an honor both for him and for his own people’.
The Founder of the Yianis Christodoulou Foundation will be honoured personally by the President of Cyprus when the unprecedented conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic terminate.
