Gala Dinner Success ! €300k For The Children Of The 9 Special Needs Schools & €65k For Children Whose Families Have Been Affected By The Fire Outbreaks
Yianis Christodoulou Foundation’s charity gala dinner was a full success on July 8th on the Zeus yacht, in the presence of distinguished guests, who honoured the event. The event’s main aim was to raise funds for the benefit of the children attending all 9 special needs public schools in Cyprus. The glamorous gala event was also attended by grand international personalities from the world of sports and culture, such as Marina Vernicos, celebrated photographer and entrepreneur, David Coulthard, race car champion, Christian Moore, son of the renowned actor Roger Moore and the beloved Cypriot singer, Anna Vissi. With Gogo Alexandrinou as the event’s Master of Ceremony, its active itinerary included the presentation of the work of the Yianis Christodoulou Foundation, speeches by Mr John Christodoulou himself, Mr Nicos Megalemou, President of Nicosia School Board, Mr Chirstos Avgoustinos, President of Parents’ Association of Children with Special Needs, and an auction on a series of exclusive items. All auctioned items included karting lessons and dinner for two in Monaco with David Coulthard, a weekend stay for two in the presidential suite of the Canary Riverside Plaza Hotel in London, a limited edition photograph by Marina Vernicos, dinner and night out with John Christodoulou and Anna Vissi in Monaco, a signed poster by Roger Moore, as James Bond 007, 2 relaxing weekends for 2 including spa access and treatment at Amara Hotel Limassol and Elysium Hotel Paphos, and 2 seats on board a private jet (Citation X) for a weekend round trip from Larnaca to Mykonos valid until August 31st. The gala dinner’s total amount reached €300.000 (three hundred thousand). The night was completed with the much-anticipated concert by the beloved singer Anna Vissi, who waved her appearance fee. It’s worth noting that during the event, an additional auction took place, the proceeds of which will be donated towards the children whose families were affected by the recent catastrophic fires in Cyprus in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports. This auction raised €65.000 (sixty thousand euro) and included one men’s watch - IWC327010 PILOT’S WATCH ‘The big Pilot’s Watch Top Gun Mojave Desert Edition, one private visit to IWC factory in Germany, a two-day sailing trip onboard a Benetau Oceanis 35 at Oristano Sardinia (length 13 meters with 3 bedrooms), and one private visit to David Coulthard Museum in Scotland. During his speech, Mr John Christodoulou paid his respects to all event sponsors and highlighted that such initiatives and donations are valuable and appreciated, as they prove that Cypriots can unite towards helping people in need.
