Pancyprian Competition 'Helping Children Hands Up For All'
The ‘Yianis Christodoulou Foundation’ announces the launching of the Pancyprian Competition for Special Schools, entitled ‘HELPING CHILDREN – HANDS UP FOR ALL’. The Competition is open to students (children) attending Public Special Schools in CYPRUS. Participating Special Schools will select and send by email no later than FRIDAY the 28th of FEBRUARY 2020, as the names of many participants as they want provided that they comply with the regulations of the competition together with their school’s ‘Proposal for utilising the prize’. The main objective of the competition is the provision of opportunities for creativity for children with special needs through creative art and design, like art (drawing, collage, 3d modeling etc.), literature (poems, stories etc), music (song writing, and/or creation of a short film. With the slogan HANDS UP FOR ALL (both in English and Greek), all designs to be submitted will have to promote the universal values of equality, love, respect, dignity, help, friendship, as well as the right for ensuring the right for equal opportunities and access to education for all children regardless of their needs. The competition "Helping Children - HANDS UP FOR ALL/ HIGH FIVE FOR ALL " has 3 prizes which will be awarded as follows: 1st Prize €10.000 2nd Prize €5.000 3rd Prize €2.000 The prize will be used for the implementation of projects in special schools (e.g. infrastructure, renovation, purchase of equipment), based on the approval of the proposal to be submitted together with the participation. Each proposal will be discussed and amended, if necessary, in consultation with all the schools’ stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth, Directorate of Primary Education, Technical Services etc. and will be implemented once all approvals have been issued. The proposal can be modified if needed. The Competition is approved by the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture.
